BCE Plans For Transition
The Seventh Day Baptist Board of Christian Education announces that Executive Director Andrew Camenga has decided to conclude his service as Executive Director at the completion of his current term which ends December 31, 2014. At the conclusion of his term, Executive Camenga will have served in the role for 15 years. In the meantime, he will serve the Board and Conference and will provide leadership as the Board continues current ministry and plans for our future ministry.
“Working with and for the Board of Christian Education is a great experience. I continue to be encouraged by the ways BCE supports local church ministry across the Conference,” Camenga said. “After significant prayer and evaluation, I have concluded that this should be my final term as executive director of BCE. I believe that God has increased my desire to be actively involved in preaching, teaching, and shepherding in a local church and expect that this will lead to serving in a pastoral role in a Seventh Day Baptist church at some point after my contract with the Board concludes.”
The Board of Directors will begin the process to choose a successor in the near future. We will be working with the General Conference through the General Council to make sure that our transition process and leadership choice benefits both the ministry of BCE and the overall ministry of the General Conference.
Founded in 1940 as a merger of three Conference organizations, the Seventh Day Baptist Board of Christian Education provides programs and materials to encourage and equip Seventh Day Baptist churches to teach evangelism, nurture, discipleship, and stewardship.
