Come and see Jesus!
The Host committee is working to prepare for the 2019 Conference at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, PA, July 28 – August 3.
President Mackintosh has asked us to arrange for a trip to Sight & Sound Theatres to see the production of JESUS on Thursday, August 1. Adult tickets (ages 13+) are $56.25 and for children 3-12, $24.75. Some of us have seen this show—it is amazing! By the use of special effects, Jesus and Peter are walking on the water and the boats are floating and rocking in the lake. It is a must see when visiting Lancaster. This show has been on stage all through the 2018 season and has been a sellout almost every day. We need to reserve seats early because of its great success. If you are planning to attend Conference and want to go to Sight & Sound, please let us know as soon as possible. You can email your request to sdmoncrief@yahoo.com. Your name and the number of tickets you need will be placed on our list. All tickets must be paid for by March 1, 2019. The sooner we receive the payment the sooner we can secure the seat. We cannot hold any unpaid tickets. There is an outside chance that we can get tickets right up to the week of Conference but, with the history of attendance for this show, it is unlikely. Other Items:
We will have a few more beds available for our use this year at Lancaster than we had the last time we visited there. When Registration time comes, be sure to REGISTER EARLY. Those staying for the full week will have rooms assigned to them first. Then we will do our best to accommodate everyone else. If you are planning to stay in a hotel, bed and breakfast, or campground, be sure to make your reservations early. Lancaster is a busy place in the summer— a popular vacation spot. We will have suggestions for off-campus housing later. You can always go online—there are many motels available within 8 miles of LBC.
The Youth Banquet will be held off campus on Wednesday at the Shady Maple Smorgasbord. It is the same place where it was held before when we were at Lancaster. The facility holds 1200 people + another 1000 on the banquet side. If you are a youth attending Conference, you will want to attend the Banquet. The Host Committee will be raising funds here in New Jersey to offset the extra cost of the Youth Banquet. If you are interested in helping with this, you can send funds to the above address.
We will be picking up and dropping off at the Harrisburg Airport or the Lancaster Amtrak/bus station. If you prefer to fly into Philadelphia, you can take the SEPTA train from the airport to 30th St. station; then take Amtrak from 30th St. station to Lancaster. The cost for Amtrak from Philadelphia to Lancaster runs about $29.00 and has scheduled service from approximately 8:30 am to 9:45 pm. Just keep in mind that if you are leaving out of Philadelphia on Sunday morning, the first train out of Lancaster to Philadelphia doesn’t leave Lancaster until 7:55 am. So you do not want to have a early flight unless you go to Philadelphia the night before.
